Building partially collapses in downtown Buffalo

There was breaking news in downtown Buffalo on Friday morning.

Traffic is blocked by emergency vehicles on Oak Street on the corner of Genesee after a building in Buffalo partially collapsed on Friday morning.

According to WIVB, the roof of a warehouse has collapsed on the corner of Oak and Genesee. He damaged a nearby car that was parked next to the building.

Due to the partial collapse of the building, the westbound exit ramp to Route 33 is blocked. Traffic is blocked on 33 and other streets around the building are closed to emergency personnel. Vehicles are diverted before reaching exit ramp 33.

We were there and it looks like the interior of the warehouse collapsed on itself when the tower collapsed and debris strewn across Oak Street in front of the building.

Many pedestrians stand nearby and watch the scene unfold as police and firefighters surround the warehouse.

Buffalo Fire Marshal William Renaldo said the building is old and undergoing renovations. No one to their knowledge was in the building at the time and today they will begin the process of partial dismantling and cleaning up the debris. They will determine if the entire building needs to be demolished at a later date.

At this time, there is no additional information, but we will update this post as we learn more about the building and what led to the collapse.
