Dramatic videos have surfaced online of a giant sandstorm tearing through China’s northwest region last week.
According AccuWeather, the powerful dust storm erupted over parts of Qinghai province in northwest China on Wednesday. Videos show a sandstorm stretching across the sky across a desert landscape, heading towards motorists caught in its path.

CNN reported that the sandstorm lasted about four hours. One of the hardest-hit places was Haixi Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The storm reportedly forced travel to a halt as residents and tourists sheltered in place.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of this sandstorm. According to a separate report from South China Morning Post, at the height of the massive storm, visibility fell below 200 meters in some cities in Qinghai province. He even masked the Sun.

Meanwhile, China is also battling intense heat, like several other countries around the world. According AccuWeather, since mid-June, large parts of northern, eastern and central China have been experiencing high temperatures. Forecasters also said heat relief in parts of China is not expected in the coming days.
Extreme temperatures have also been observed in Europe this year. Heat waves have sparked forest fires in Spain, France, Greece and Italy. Separately, the United Nations has warned that heat waves will become more frequent and intense in the coming years.
