Rangnick comments on Martial’s future at Man Utd amid exit talks

New interim Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has shared his thoughts on the upcoming January transfer window for the first time – with his side set for a transfer bargain.

Former RB Leipzig manager Rangnick took over as United boss last month after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked.

All eyes are now on next month’s January transfer window to see if the German can fix some of the issues within his squad that haunted his predecessor at Old Trafford.

Rangnick has spoken of downsizing his squad next month – and the club look set to earn a big bargain by sending a star on loan to a Premier League rival.

It comes as star man Cristiano Ronaldo saw one of his individual records tie.

Ronaldo loses a record

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo saw his Serie A scoring record tied – by a striker who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic scored his 33rd goal in 2021 in Fiorentina’s 2-2 draw with Sassuolo on Sunday to tie the record set by Ronaldo last year.

Ronaldo left Italy when he moved to United last summer, and Vlahovic has been linked with a similar move himself in recent times.

It comes as Ronaldo’s big rival Lionel Messi also saw one of his records drop over the weekend as Dusan Tadic broke the world record for assists in a calendar year.

United ready for transfer windfall

Newcastle could have a busy window after becoming the richest club in world football in October as they seek to extricate themselves from a relegation battle in the Premier League.

And according to the latest reports, the man they want to fire them is United striker Martial.

The Frenchman could be available after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford this quarter, with agent Philippe Lamboley recently claiming he “doesn’t want to stay in January” and “just needs to play”.

Rangnick shares his thoughts on the January window

United boss Ralf Rangnick has yet to finalize his plans for the January transfer window, although a move in favor of a defensive midfielder remains unlikely according to reports.

Former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly been “privately unhappy” with the club’s failure to bring in a central midfielder last summer and under Rangnick the club have been linked with several players who could resolve the issue.

But United will only sign a central midfielder when the January transfer window opens next month on one condition, according to the Manchester Evening News
