Suspected political thug shoots 4 people in Ondo

As many as four people were reportedly shot dead in Idanre town, Idanre Local Government Area, Ondo State by a suspected political thug.

LEADERSHIP has learned that the thug, believed to be loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), allegedly went to a supermarket in the Old Town’s Ojota neighborhood to extort the owner when the incident occurred.

The alleged thug popularly known as ‘Para’ is said to have been known to extort locals as the government looked the other way.

A source informed LEADERSHIP that “Para has always done this without being controlled by the government. Today, he went to the supermarket to collect some money, but the supermarket owners refused to give him any. The owner told him he was early in the money because they hadn’t made any sales for the day yet.

“While arguing with the store owner, Para snatched the bag from the owner and they started dragging the bag with him. Before we know what happened, he pulled out a gun and shot four people instantly.

“The victims were rushed to Idanre General Hospital where they are currently receiving medical treatment.”

But, confirming the incident, Ondo State Police (PPRO) Public Relations Officer Funmi Odunlami, however, said it was a robbery.

Odunlami revealed that the suspect was arrested by the police.

The PPRO said: “There is a report of theft, suspect in custody.”
